A LETTER FROM THE BOARD CHAIR

Endings, Beginnings and the Spirit of Travel

Headshot-Richard G. Ahenakew

ON OCTOBER 24, 2025, my two-year term as Chair of the CAA Saskatchewan Board of Directors came to a close. It’s been a meaningful journey — one filled with learning, collaboration and deep appreciation for the people who make this organization what it is. I’m grateful to continue serving as a Director and to stay engaged through the Nominating and Governance Committee.

The past two years have given me a front-row seat to the dedication and care our team brings to everything we do to make life better for our Members. I’m proud to have contributed my voice to that work.

As winter approaches, I find myself reflecting not just on the seasons but on life’s transitions. In many Indigenous traditions, winter is a time for gathering, storytelling and preparing for what’s next. That resonates with me deeply. It’s a season that invites us to pause, to dream and to reconnect — whether that’s by spending time with loved ones or setting out on a journey to a place that brings us joy.

Lately, I’ve been thinking about my own winter escape — maybe to somewhere new, perhaps somewhere a little warmer. Travel, for me, has always been about more than the destination. It’s about the stories we collect, the people we meet and the memories we carry home.

Over the years, I have trusted the knowledgeable CAA Travel Consultants. They take the time to understand what you’re looking for — asking the right questions, offering thoughtful suggestions and handling the details. I also appreciate knowing that with my CAA membership, I can enjoy exclusive perks such as discounts on vacation packages, hotels and car rentals — making my family’s travel experiences smooth and affordable.

Peace and relaxation often come from being prepared and planning ahead, but it’s also nice to know you are covered through CAA Travel Insurance. For me, it’s about making memories and enjoying time together — not worrying about the what-ifs.

As I share this final message as Chair, I find myself reflecting on the journey — not just mine, but the shared one we’ve all been on. It’s been an incredible honour to serve our Members and to work alongside the passionate people who make CAA Saskatchewan what it is. From helping plan dream vacations to keeping our roads and communities safe, I’ve seen the care, commitment and heart behind everything we do. Thank you for letting me be part of this chapter. I invite you to stop by one of our local stores or connect with us online.

Here’s to safe travels, meaningful memories and the journeys that connect us all. CAA
